In April 2024, I had the opportunity to return to Malaysia, where I lived ages 5-9, to join the global Planetary Health Alliance community to discuss planetary health research, and how we are coming together to advocate for action across research, policy, education - all centring communication.
Prior to the conference, I was asked to help the team at the Sunway Centre for Planetary Health with the communication section of the Planetary Health Roadmap - I was honoured to be called a communications expert, and tried my best to support the team in that role.
I also participated and helped to document a unique session at the conference, combining AI and planetary health expertise with humanitarian thought and cartoonists, producing an interactive co-creation session on the future of AI and planetary health. It was a privilege to speak alongside colleagues from Google.org's AI for Good, the Red Cross Red Cresent Climate Centre and the Sunway Centre at our pre-conference cartoonathon sessions, and wonderful to see the audience engaging with the session in KL. I'm looking forward to helping the team take our learning forward in a publication and resources doe the wider community.
