PHI's Ethnicity, Health Equity and AI Project

My first big project for PHI, my lab at the University of Oxford, was organising the communications campaign for their 'Ethnicity, Health Equity and AI' Project

PHI's Ethnicity, Health Equity and AI Project

Our lab focuses on real-world data, combining data from healthcare and environmental sources to research planetary health, or the intersection of human health and climate change. We also focus a great deal on health equity - making sure that healthcare and healthcare-related technologies are free from bias, and fit to help the care of all, no matter their ethnicity, rare condition, socio-economic status or their position in the Global North/South.

I started my position with PHI just as the paper was submitted for publishing, so I helped with everything from proofreading to presentations. I also lead on a comms campaign to publicise the project and its incredibly important results. This research project was specifically focused on improving how ethnicity data collected by the health service is used in research.

When the first phase of the research project was published in Nature - Scientific Data, I coordinated a broad publicity campaign around the research. While I was enjoying steadily improving our social media and website, it was really exciting to get to collaborate with our departmental, divisional and central press office, plus with our funders and other researchers connected to the project!

Here are some examples of the work I produced as part of this campaign, including a research video, social media posts and visuals:

You can find more details of the research and more of my work on the lab website.
